Visit to University of Chichester Art Gallery
Tuesday 16th July, 10.15am to 12.15pm

Integrating art with education, the University of Chichester Art Collection has, over the last
50 years, sourced figurative and abstract pieces, which are on display in various parts of the
University. We have arranged a special group visit to view some of these outstanding pieces,
led by the Special Collections Manager, along with a short tour of the University to learn
some of its history.
The walking tour is free for U3A members, takes about 2 hours, and does involve a number
of staircases, although lifts are available. Some of the tour will be outside, walking between
buildings. There will be a 20-minute stop for coffee on the campus.
This tour offers an interesting insight into our local University, and its links with the city.
Places are limited to 15, so please do book early if you’d like to see works from some of the
most important British artists of the twentieth century. The tour will take place at the Bishop
Otter campus of the University of Chichester. Full joining instructions will be provided after
booking. If required car parking can arranged at £1.90 per hour via the University.
Booking opens midday, 31 May, and closes midday, 14 June. Please book using this link.
If you have any queries please email the organiser here.

Monthly Meeting – 13th June at 2pm
at the Assembly Rooms on North Street

Our speakerwill be Fran Sandham. A former editor of Rough Guides, Fran has written freelance for many newspapers and magazines including the Daily Telegraph, the Observer and the Financial Times. His book Traversa: A solo walk across Africa received terrific reviews on both sides of the Atlantic and was serialised in the Sunday Times.
Fran took on the challenge of a lifetime by walking across Africa solo from coast to coast. His 3,500-mile walk from the Atlantic on Namibia’s Skeleton Coast to the Indian Ocean near Zanzibar was the first time on record anyone has crossed Africa solo entirely on foot by this route.
Tea and coffee will be served in the Crush Bar at the rear of the Assembly Room from 1:15 to 1:45pm and the meeting starts at 2pm. We are grateful to the team of volunteers who serve the refreshments.
