Chichester U3A is an exciting self-help movement for people who are retired or semi-retired and live in Chichester or the surrounding villages and communities. It offers the opportunity to pursue learning for sheer enjoyment and for its own sake. It is a self-funded Educational Charity.
We are a lively and friendly group offering a wide range of creative, study, physical and leisure activities.
How does this U3A work?
Each U3A runs its own affairs according to its own constitution, in accordance with local members’ wishes and by their voluntary efforts. Courses are intellectually stimulating, physically beneficial and/or just good fun. In a nutshell it’s a club for ‘Recreation, Education and Companionship’ for Third Agers. You don’t just join Chichester U3A, you ‘join in’.
Chichester U3A has over 700 members and supports over 90 groups.
Chichester U3A is a member of the Sussex U3A Network (SUN) which organises a variety of specialist meetings as well as a Summer School.
Why should I join?
You will be able attend our talks, participate in any number of our Interest Groups, and when the situation permits we will resume our Visits programme The rewards of your membership are in learning, participation and making friends. Members are encouraged to participate as learners or teachers/leaders.
How do I join?
There are no examinations or entry qualifications, and none are awarded.
Members share their skills and life experiences: the learners teach and the teachers learn so there is no distinction between leaders and learners. Groups run on a self-help basis and are fully self-financing.
