CHICHESTER U3A 30th ANNIVERSARY SUMMER PARTY
EXTRA PLACES NOW AVAILABLE

Would you like to attend our Summer Party in the private Garden at The Bishop of Chichester’s Palace
on Saturday 22 nd  July?
Our Summer Party is to celebrate another successful year of Chichester u3a – in fact, it’s our
30 th  anniversary!  We thought this was worth marking with a special event, and we hope that many
members, new and old, will want to join us for the afternoon.

By kind permission of The Bishop of Chichester, our u3a has been granted access to the private
Garden for a celebratory Tea Party on 22nd July.  Sandwiches, cakes, tea, coffee and soft drinks will
be served from 3pm to 5pm, and there is seating for 150 people, as well as a large marquee.  This
event is open to all Chichester u3a members and their partners.

The Bishop’s Palace asks for a donation in lieu of a hire charge, which will go to the Bishop’s
Discretionary Fund.  We are asking members to pay £5 per person which we will donate to the Fund.

Understandably many members were disappointed at not being able to secure a place. The
tickets went much quicker than we had anticipated. Booking has now re-opened with an extra
50 places. This will be as before on a first come, strictly first served basis.

Please book using the form which you will find on the summer party booking page using this LINK. You
can book up to 2 people.  Please put your membership number(s) in the comments box, plus the name
of your partner, if relevant. After booking please go to our Pay U3A page to get information about how
to pay.

If you have any questions, please email the Social Events Secretary via this link.

We look forward to seeing you on 22nd July.
Chichester u3a Committee.

Monthly Meeting at the Assembly Rooms on North Street – 15th June at 2pm

BEHIND THE SCENES ON CENTRE COURT with Alan Chalmers

For 40 years, from 1976 to 2015, Alan Chalmers was the steward responsible for the seating arrangements and security of the journalists, competitors and their guests who sought seats on Centre Court, Wimbledon to watch the matches. In the 40 years of his service, Alan was present for over 2000 matches, and has many anecdotes to share about the history of the All England Club, the workings of Wimbledon, and the many fascinating players and celebrities he encountered over the years.

Tea and coffee will be served in the Crush Bar at the rear of the Assembly Room from 1:15 to 1:45pm and the meeting starts at 2pm. We are grateful to the team of volunteers who serve the refreshments.
