The monthly meeting in December will take place, as usual, at The Assembly Room, North Street, Chichester. Tea and coffee, and mince pies, will be served from 1.15 pm until 1.45 pm and the talk will start at 2pm.
We have a change to our programme. Our speaker in December will be Nick Johnston-Jones. His talk is titled “A Brief History of Heroism” and is about how the concept of heroism has evolved over the centuries since its origins in Classical mythology. Looking at a range of heroic models in history and literature, Nick poses the question: do we now live in a post-heroic age?
