Advanced Spanish conversation

The current Advanced Spanish Group is full – but are other members out there who might be interested in joining a new Spanish conversation group – time and place and other details to be sorted out between prospective members?

Participants would need to be fairly fluent in Spanish, either by studying at a reasonable level, living or working in a Spanish seeking country, and capable of helping each other with difficulties in the language.

Please send any responses to Stephanie Carn the current leader via this link, who will share them with the existing two members who are keen on setting up the new group, and arrange an initial meeting. They can take it from there!

Dog Walking Group – tails and trails

From sparkling shorelines to crunchy woodland trails, and from centurion valleys to
the sweeping views atop the South Downs, we’re out in all weathers, year-round,
embracing the changing seasons with our four-legged friends. Our fortnightly dog
walks are not just exercise — they’re a source of great companionship. And our
post-walk coffees at dog-friendly cafés are a therapeutic tonic to rival any
prescription, guaranteed to lift the mood.

This year’s spring blossom was a particularly welcome sight — not to mention the
glorious bluebells.

All of our dogs — with their quirks, charms, and boundless energy — makes our
group what it is: a joyful, slightly muddy, and utterly loveable pack of personalities. Follow this link for more information.

Recorder Group

The Recorder Group currently has vacancies for players and would like to welcome YOU, if you’ve played in the past and would like to take up this versatile instrument again.

What do we play? More than Greensleeves! There’s lots of music from early to modern times, composed or arranged specially for recorder groups working at different levels and we cover a wide range for this level, which is improvers to moderate. [I myself play with Hampshire Recorder Sinfonia and the Wessex branch of SRP.] Once a month we invite a local recorder professional along to conduct us and offer expert insights.

To join us, you will need to

– be free on Tuesday afternoons 2pm-4pm every week. (Not a drop-in group, I’m afraid – this needs commitment!)
– have a recorder (actually, we like everyone to play at least two sizes)
– have a music stand
– be able to read music and rhythms at a basic level
– be familiar with the fingerings on a recorder
– be prepared to do some practice at home so that you can make good progress in the group

New Book Group

We will number no more than twelve so we can focus on one conversation at a time. It does not matter when our books were first published – it is more important that one or more of the group have actually read it and feel it would make for a good discussion. We may well be opinionated; we might even disagree – but will do so agreeably. Our overriding intention is to share novels – occasionally a classic and/or non-fiction – that have touched us deeply so that others may feel the same. Is this you?

Venue: Little London Café
Date/time: fourth Monday each month, 10.30 until 12 am except December.
