The aim is not to be first to solve a particular clue, but rather to unpick the way in which it could be approached and solved. Hence, although absolute beginners would struggle, we welcome those who have a basic awareness of some of the tricks involved and would like further practice. Our chosen text-book is taken from the Times Quick Cryptic Crossword series.
