Practical Science Workshop

Description

Primary category: Maths, Science & Technology

Join in a variety of science based projects from natural history to electronics

There are monthly meetings, (except in January and August,) during which projects are planned over coffee at a member’s house. Science projects on YouTube are also viewed and discussed. Experience of simple laboratory techniques such as microscopy and distillation can also be provided.

Project teams arrange workshops every few weeks to pursue their projects, which may cover any area of science such as running moth traps or plant identification or more advanced projects such as building cloud chambers or hydrogen cells. Project workshops can take place in the local area or at Chichester College.

No qualifications are required but a willingness to be an active participant on group science activities is expected. Members may be asked to contribute to the costs of raw materials or to replacing damaged equipment.
