More about this group …
We cycle for pleasure, not endurance, though of course, we do get the benefit of a gentle workout. We like interesting scenery, avoiding busy roads as much as possible. We also consider socialising and companionship as important as the exercise, normally making at least one refreshment stop en-route and finishing at a lunch venue. The conversations are always stimulating.
A rising trend in recent years is for electric bikes, and we now have more riders on electric bikes than traditional ones. A medium pace is chosen to keep the group together (and comfortable).
We have 2 rides each month, though recently we seem to have been plagued by rain predicted on our chosen days, which has forced a cancelation… (though we still try to meet up for a rendezvous at the lunch venue anyway!)
We try to make our rides as varied as possible, and as well as our stock of local rides we sometimes use the train or cars to access more distant locations, giving us a range from Bournemouth and the New Forest to Brighton, or inland to Petersfield or Horsham.
