A message from the Groups’ Team

If you’d like to join up with a few like-minded people to do something that is not currently on offer or the group you’d like to join is full, please read on . . .

The key principle of the U3A movement is that we do things together for ourselves and our members and the Groups’ Team is always on hand for every step of a new set up and beyond. You don’t need to have any experience of running things as the Groups’ Team will provide guidance and support, especially during the set-up phase of a new group.  No-one else is going to step in and offer to do things – it’s up to us, and if we don’t do it, then it won’t happen!

So, if you have the beginnings of an idea, please talk to the Groups’ Team. A quick chat will let you see what is involved in relation to your specific suggestion and get the ball rolling! We can then test the waters and gauge interest via the bulletin.

To contact members of the Groups’ Team, please send an email to groups@chichesteru3a.org.uk

One of the team will get back to you as soon as possible.

Upcoming Events

Monthly Meeting on Thursday, 21st November at 2pm at the Assembly Rooms on North Street

Talk: Journeys in Biology: DNA and the Genome Revolution

Our speaker will be Darren Gowers, who will take you on a tour down into the microscopic world of a cell and explore what makes them tick! We’ll look at the central importance of DNA (or RNA if you’re a virus!) and what a gene is. From here,
we’ll think about why understanding genes and genomes helps us investigate medicines. There will be opportunities to handle and explore some 3D-printed molecules, so you can see up close ho lumpy and bumpy the molecular world is. There will be plenty of time for questions and discussion at the end.

Tea and coffee will be served in the Crush Bar at the rear of the Assembly Room from 1:15 to 1:45pm and the meeting starts at 2pm.

We meet at Donnington Hall on Mondays 10am to 12noon. The cost for the current 10 weeks term is £2.10 per session of Chicago bridge. To register your interest email groups@chichesteru3a.org.uk.
