Volunteers Needed

It takes an Army of Volunteers…

.. so if you can spare a little time to help out please let us know.

To make these a success – Monthly Meetings, Coffee Mornings, pub quizzes, social events, outings etc – we are going to need help from within our membership, we can’t do it alone.

IF YOU CAN SPARE SOME OF YOUR TIME, NO MATTER HOW LONG OR SHORT, HOW REGULARLY OR JUST AS A ONE-OFF, please will you contact us here and one of our Committee members will phone or email you to discuss the best way of using your time, talents and enthusiasm.

July Monthly Meeting on Zoom

Thursday, July 15th at 14:00

Brilliant British Humour in the Forgotten Art of the Picture Postcard: 1840-1950

Dr James Taylor, a former auctioneer and curator of the National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, will talk about artist-drawn comic postcards, the most popular art form from the Edwardian era to the outbreak of World War II. They entertained, inspired, instructed, motivated, persuaded and lifted-up the spirits. Discover the popular subjects and styles by the masters of the medium such as Mabel Lucie Attwell, Donald McGill and Fred Spurgin; and the reasons why their popularity waned with the British public. James has been collecting postcards for more than 45 years.

July Quiz on Zoom

The next quiz will be on Tuesday, July 20th, at 7:30PM.

These are held on Zoom every month on the third Tuesday  and are very informal but most enjoyable.  They are proving popular so can you please register beforehand by contacting the organiser.
