Please note that the Bulletin and its editor will be put in for maintenance and possible upgrades over the Christmas break, so the former will not appear on December 20th. With luck, all work will be completed on time and on cost, and the Bulletin will appear on December 27th. Maybe the editor also. Please bear this in mind if you are thinking of putting in a notice in the next few weeks.

Volunteer Wanted for Quizzes

We are now running monthly evening quizzes at The White Swan in Bosham. We regularly have 28 contestants and we have teams of compilers and quizmasters. We are looking for a volunteer to share the QUIZ ADMINISTRATION duties at various times during the year.
This would take about two hours per month and would entail collecting applications and cheque payments from the U3A mailbox in central Chichester, grouping the competitors into teams, liaising with the Quiz compiler and Quizmaster, and liaising with the staff at The White Swan. You wouldn’t need to attend the Quiz evening.
If you would like more information, or to volunteer, or both, please contact the quiz organiser whose job you will be sharing.

Quiz Dates for your Diary

Two quizzes have been arranged for dates early next year: January 21st and February 25th. No details have been settled, so please do not try to book for either until further notice. Just make some space in your diary for them. In the meantime, you’ll just have to watch EastEnders.

Coffee Mornings- New Day Notice

Dear Members,
Our coffee mornings are greatly enjoyed by many of us. We haven’t quite reached 100 attendees as yet, but we are close. This indicates the popularity and importance of this chance to meet with each other. To catch up with old friends and to make some new ones.

It is also an important vehicle for giving out news and information. A chance to ask questions and keep the momentum of Chichester U3A going. It is clear that we all enjoy meeting in The Minerva Bar as opposed to The Foyle. We’re sure you realise that we are moved to the Foyle when there is a matinee and the Minerva requires the room for lunch preparation. Our contract is with the catering company and not with the theatre. After meeting with their manager, it has been agreed that to move our coffee mornings to a TUESDAY, means we will ALWAYS be in The Minerva, with dates agreed well in advance, with the promise from the company, that we will never be moved to The Foyle. These will begin in 2020 and notices will be posted in the bulletins between now and the first one on January 7th 2020.

We realise that for some of us, we may already have a Tuesday commitment but over time, it is hoped that you will be able to rearrange this, should you wish to attend coffee mornings. The committee agreed that this is the best solution to continuing a positive relationship with the catering company and our continued welcome as guests at the theatre.

On behalf of Chichester U3A committee.
