Coffee Morning

The coffee morning last Wednesday, 4th September, was not in the Minerva Bar after all. Mind you, I did suggest you allow for human frailty.
I don’t think it was our fault: communications between the two parties (CFT and U3A) may be imperfect.
Anyway, it’s just a few yards from the Minerva to the Foyle, so no great harm was done. It was very busy there, nearly all of us were able to pick up our membership cards, and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. In particular, there was a good response to the Cryptic Crossword proposal. (Thus: you can get Refectory Ale from here, and tea, coffee and cakes (5,7).)

Groups News

Play Reading 1 and Play Reading 2

Now may be the time to revisit your favourite holiday venues abroad. Recapture Italy’s charm via Dario Fo’s
comedy set in a provincial town hall, or join in a racy French farce, tracking down the comic elements found
later in our British farces.
Fo and Labiche are just two of the foreign playwrights represented in our 11-month programme. We travel from Greece to Czechoslovakia, calling in at Spain, Italy, France. Russia, Norway and Germany on the way.
Come and join us on either the 2nd or the 4th Thursday afternoon each month.
If you are interested and would like to learn more, please contact the group leader or the Groups Team.

Current Affairs Journal Group

The Tuesday Current Affairs group now meets on the first Friday in the month at 11-00 AM, starting on September  6th at New Parks Centre, Chichester. We are selecting a challenging published article or single chapter of a book as the basis for each separate session. Thus, some reading is required prior to dialogue and argument! New members are welcome. Contact the group leader via the dropdown contact form on the group’s webpage for more information. Or contact the Groups Team.
