Urgent Notice – Membership Renewal
Third Age Matters Magazine

It has come to our attention that many members who until now have elected to receive Third Age Matters (the quarterly magazine produced by the U3A Trust) have left blank the box on the renewal form which asks for the member’s consent to share their data with the company which distributes the magazine. IF YOU HAVE LEFT THIS BOX BLANK YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE THE MAGAZINE IN FUTURE.
Judging by the number of magazine cancellations which we have received via the consent box option on the renewal form, we are aware that there is some confusion over the wording of this paragraph. We have therefore produced an updated Renewal Form which makes it clear that THE THIRD AGE TRUST WILL NOT DIVULGE MEMBERS’ DETAILS TO OTHER ORGANISATIONS OR THIRD PARTIES and this form asks for your consent for your data to be passed to the Third Age Trust for the purpose of magazine distribution.
We will endeavour to contact by email those members who have left the box blank to check whether they wish to receive the magazine in future, but if you miss an issue please accept our apologies. You do not need to do anything, but if you would like to discuss this matter, please email .
Thank you for your understanding.
Jill and Wendy, Membership Team

  • Reading Group 10

We have a space in our group. We meet in the afternoon of the first Wednesday of every month in Graylingwell Park. You don’t have to be a resident, but it is convenient as easily accessible. Contact the group leader.

  • Day Sailing Group

On our sailings on 19th October and 3rd December we will be joined by Kerry Jackson, a respected RSPB expert, and she will provide us with a commentary and observations on the incoming and visiting migrant bird and wild life which make their home in Chichester Harbour over the winter. I would hope that participants on these days will give a small personal donation to Kerry for the RSPB, as I will on the day. Further details of these sailings and others are available from Andrew Walker, the group leader.

Further information on all groups is shown on the Chichester U3A website. If you would like to find out more about a particular group, go from there  to the webpage for that group, and use the contact form there to send a message to the group leader. If that fails, contact the groups team.

Gillian, our MP, has offered to host a 45 minute question and answer session in a Commons Committee Room after our 75 minute guided tour – please prepare your questions and submit them to the Chair, 7 days before our visit, so that we can have a full and meaningful discussion within our time available – our Chair, Andrew Walker has agreed to act as Chair of that meeting.

We hope to have a route back home that encompasses the Christmas lights of Oxford Street and Regents Street – not guaranteed until the day!

Due to the popularity of this December trip and its over subscription, our MP has agreed to host us again in the Spring – I (AW) have 20 names on the reserve list already: if you would like to come on another tour of Parliament in the Spring, contact Andrew Walker, the Chair
