  1. New Committee

    Our many thanks to all those who attended the adjourned AGM on 21st June and our apologies to all those that could not get in due to fire regulations limiting the attendance to 180 people.I am pleased to report that your new Committee were all appointed and now comprises:

  2. Groups

    • Next Strummers meeting Ukulele group: all abilities, beginners welcome, singers also welcome. Next meeting Monday 25th June, from 12:00 to 13:30 or 14:00.  In the Hole in the Wall public house, adjacent to Marks and Spencers carpark. Easy access through garden. No fee to join – just buy a drink, tea, coffee or stay for lunch – up to you. Bring ukulele if you have one. Bring music if you have some you like. Contact here for more details.
    • Meditation
      This group currently has vacancies and meets on the 4th Friday morning each month. For further details contact the  groups team.
    • Yoga

  3. Trip to the hidden battle fields of WW1 with Bognor U3A

    From October 4th to 8th. As the anniversary of the end of WW1 approaches we are making our last five day visit to the battlefields of northern France and southern Belgium.  Among the various places we shall visit are the British Cemetery at Lijssenthoek were the only woman is buried, the Trench of Death at Dixmuide, Vladso German cemetery and the statue of the grieving parents.  Then to Pervyse and the Advanced Dressing Station run by Mairi Chisholm and Elsie Knocker.  Time in the Ypres Salient and at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate in the evening and finally to Mons where it all started in 1914 and ended at more or less the same place four years later.   Just time to visit Lille to shop, hurrah, or the look at the new city built around the Eurostar link.   We will be staying at a Best Western hotel in Mouscron, coach, guide and all meals [except lunch] are all included in the price, £559 [SPS: £99] Booking forms from Iain Palôt  here, or at 443 Chichester Road, Bognor Regis, PO215DS [for SAE]
  4. Vineyard Tour, Stopham, near Pulborough  2.00 pm, Saturday 1st September

    (organised by the Arun East Out and About Group)

    This attractive vineyard is set on the South Downs (1.5 miles west of Pulborough Station) and produces excellent quality still and sparkling wines.

    One of the partners will conduct you around the estate and there is ample opportunity to sample the wines and ask questions.

    The cost is £12 per person to secure your booking which is on a first-come first-served basis.  This cost is based on 30 of us attending although it could rise to £25 if fewer attend. If the trip is cancelled, you will receive a full refund.

  5. National U3A Study Days

    • Wednesday, September 19th, 11:00 to 16:00 BST, at Westminster Cathedral Hall. Jazz Study Day with Alan Barnes. The first half, in the morning, will be the informative part, the afternoon session will be a concert performance by Alan and his octet. Cost £20 per person.
    • New Thursday, September 20th, 10:30 to 17:15, at the Bristol Science Centre. Five Senses? You may have Thirty-Three! The day will include welcome refreshments, introductory talk, two workshops, a show and full admission to the venue with two floors of exhibits. Cost £20 per person.
